Printmaking

My approach to printmaking strongly reflects my work as a collage artist. Instead of reproducing a particular image, I most often create one-off prints that are developed through the printing process itself in a fluid and experimental way.

Printing plates are exposed with found imagery and cut into segments, giving me a set of components to work with. Unlike a paper collage in which I ultimately have to decide on one particular composition, this technique re-uses the same image elements repeatedly to become part of a number of possible compositions. The resulting series of prints offer an insight into the creative process, each print being a kind of snap shot, documenting a particular stage.
